The food economy doesn't have to be driven by real estate.
UFTA is a neutral, industry-first backbone for the independent food economy. It exists so that quality wins on operational truth and trust — not on storefront visibility.
What UFTA is
A trade association running open standards, a trust system, and shared rails — so vendors, caterers, walking tours, and venue operators can be discovered and transacted with on the merits of their work, regardless of which app a customer is using.
Consumer apps and partner platforms ride UFTA's canonical objects and Partner API. The customer chooses the app they like; UFTA makes sure the underlying signal is real, fresh, and fair.
Non-negotiables
- Neutrality
- UFTA does not play favorites among apps, vendors, or providers. Requirements are published and applied consistently.
- Transparency
- Trust tiers, scoring, and eligibility rules are documented, versioned, and auditable.
- Interoperability
- UFTA standards are designed to be licensed and implemented by many front-ends.
- Freshness and truth
- Scheduling and compliance data carry timestamps, sources, and clear expiry behavior.
- Due process
- Flags, downgrades, and disputes follow documented workflows with appeals.
- Privacy and minimization
- Collect the minimum data required to operate safely and reliably.
Built for agents and humans alike
UFTA's Partner API is agent-first by architecture, not by feature. Clean REST, JSON-LD context, an OpenAPI contract, and a published /.well-known/agents.json. Personal agents, partner integrations, and human-facing apps all read the same canonical truth.
Who's on UFTA
Providers — the people serving food and running events
Food trucks, caterers, walking tours, pop-ups, venue operators, commissaries. The members at the heart of the food economy.
App partners — apps and platforms that ride the canonical API
- Where's the Food — heat-map quick-find for what's nearby right now
- Rolling Menus — booking and organizer console
- … and any partner app willing to meet the standards
Specialists — vetted service partners who support the food economy
The independent food economy doesn't run on food alone. Trucks need wraps and menus and signage; kitchens need refrigeration and HVAC; everyone needs insurance, accounting, and legal counsel that understand mobile food. UFTA vets specialists on the same trust ladder as providers, so vendors, organizers, and agents can find safe, effective third parties without guesswork.
- Five Up Designs — branding, menus, signage, and creative for food vendors
- … and any vetted specialist meeting the Specialist Standard
